UMSL Men's Tennis Coaching Staff
Rick Gyllenborg has been the men’s tennis head coach at the University of Missouri-St. Louis since the 1995-96 season and is entering his 13th season going into the 2007-08 season. During his career, he has produced a program that has shown success both on and off the court. He surpassed the 100 win mark during the 2004-05 season, and continues to add to that total.
The
Rivermen had a strong
season in 2004, qualifying for the GLVC Tournament and advancing to
the semifinals before finishing the year with an 11-8 record. In 2003,
Gyllenborg guided the men’s team to its second consecutive bid
to the NCAA Regionals. The team finished with a 14-7 record on the season
and placed third at the GLVC Tournament. The previous season, he led
the team to an 16-5 overall record and a 7-1 record and second-place
finish in the GLVC regular season and in the conference tournament.
The team also qualified for the NCAA Regional for the first time in
the programs history. In the 2000-01 season, the team finished third
in the GLVC in both the regular season and at the conference tournament.
The Rivermen finished the year ranked 21st in the NCAA Great Lakes Valley
Region, one spot away from qualifying for the NCAA Regionals.
