Volleyball Coaching Staff
Josh
Lauer has been the head coach at UM-St. Louis for three seasons, and
has quickly started to turn things around for the volleyball program.
Last year, Lauer led the team to an 11-18 overeall record, and an 8-8
mark in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The team finished seventh
in the GLVC, it’s highest finish in the conference since the 2001
season, and qualified for the conference tournament for hte first time
in three years.

Lauer
began his career at UMSL as the interim coach for the 2004 season
and guided UMSL to a 9-17 record. Following that season, he had
the interim tag removed and was named the sixth head coach in
UMSL history. Last season, Lauer brought in a full recruiting
class of young players and led the team to a 6-22 record and narrowly
missed a bid to the GLVC tournament.
Lauer
has been the head coach for the St. Louis CYC Volleyball Club
since 1999 and has helped run one of the top volleyball clubs
in the country. He has worked primarily with high school aged
athletes, serving as the head coach at the 16 and under level.
Since joining the St. Louis CYC Volleyball Club, he has helped
establish conditioning programs, skills clinics and developed
offensive and defensive systems. During his tenure as coach, his
teams finished in the top five regionally every year and attended
the USAV Nationals in both Open and Club divisions. Lauer has
coached numerous players who have gone on to play college volleyball
at the NCAA Division I, Division II and Division III levels.

| Lauer
graduated from Washington University-St. Louis with a Bachelor of
Arts in Chemistry and a minor in religious studies. Lauer is a certified
volleyball official, having worked at the high school and collegiate
levels, and for the USAV Junior Nationals. |

Molly
Bommarito has been an assistant coach at UMSL for one season and assists
the staff with coaching duties and the overall operations of the program.
Bommarito played high school volleyball at Nerinx Hall High School,
where she played mainly as a defensive specialist for the team. She
graduated with a degree in psychology from Truman State University and
is currently pursuing a masters degree in counseling at UMSL.
